What Is Graded as Standard

Only log home packages are structurally graded as standard. Loose log and timber parts are appearance grade as standard, and structural grading is available on request, for an added fee. A structural grade is what lets an engineer put a log or timber into calculations, not just into photographs, and we are the only structural grader of red cedar* in the country.

Structural grades

  • No. 1Premium grade
    Headers, beams, girders and ridges
  • No. 2Wall Log 40 grade
    Wall and post components

Log home packages

Structurally graded as standard

Graded through the Timber Products Inspection (TPI) service, and grade stamped or covered by a certificate on request. Wall and post components: Wall Log 40 grade, known as number 2. Headers, beams, girders and ridges: Premium grade, known as number 1. The engineering for your house decides what grade each component has to be.

Loose log and timber parts

Appearance grade as standard

Structural grading available on request, for an added fee, by a certified Timber Products Inspection (TPI) grader for red cedar*, Douglas fir and pine.
