Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Sierra Log & Timber, LLC collects when you use our websites, how we use it, who helps us handle it, and the choices and rights you have. We are a log and timber mill in Chico, California, and we try to collect only what we need to answer you and to run the sites.

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Who we are and what this policy covers

Sierra Log & Timber, LLC ("Sierra", "we", "us") operates sierralogandtimber.com and its sister sites: gallery.sierralogandtimber.com, resources.sierralogandtimber.com, blog.sierralogandtimber.com and our realtor portal. This policy covers all of them.

Two of our services have their own notices, which add to this one: the Action Planner at planner.sierralogandtimber.com has its own privacy policy, and our floor plan store at loghomefloorplans.shop runs on Shopify, whose checkout is also covered by Shopify's privacy policy. The shade structure configurator also has a short notice of its own about the package requests it saves.

What we collect

Information you give us when you fill in a form or talk to us:

  • Contact and quote requests: your first and last name, email address, phone number, where you plan to build, the topics you pick and anything you tell us about your project.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address.
  • Free study set and design package requests: your name, email, phone, state, whether you own land, your timeline, the floor plan you chose, your notes, and the campaign tags (UTM parameters and Google Ads click ID) in the link that brought you.
  • Shade structure packages: your email, the model and configuration you chose, the budget price and delivery estimate shown, and any name, phone, project location or message you add. The delivery ZIP you enter is sent to Google Maps to estimate mileage.
  • INSIGHT market research: the city, state, ZIP code and home size you search, and any notes you type. If you save a report, we keep the budget you saved; if you email one, we use the address you give us to send it. A land value you enter travels in the page address and is not stored.
  • The chat window and booking calendar: whatever you type into the chat, and the name, email, phone and time you give when you book a call.
  • The realtor portal: your business name, your name and email address, your phone number and website if you give them, the logo you upload, and the email addresses of the clients you choose to send a county page to.
  • Landowner resources: if you share a page, the email address or mobile number you send it to, which is saved in our customer records; a number gets one text message, which says to reply STOP to stop. If you ask for a county reminder, your email address and the county. If you suggest a correction, what you write and, if you give it, your email address so we can reply. If you use "Find my county", your location is used once to find your county and is not kept.

Information collected automatically when you visit:

  • Usage data through Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics: the pages you view, the page that referred you, your browser and device type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and the time of your visit.
  • Microsoft Clarity, which records how you move through a page (clicks, scrolling and taps) as session replays and heatmaps. Clarity masks what you type into forms.
  • Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights on some pages, which count page views and a few clicks and measure how fast pages load, without setting cookies.
  • Server logs kept by our hosting provider, which include your IP address and browser details, for security and troubleshooting.
  • For INSIGHT and the shade configurator, a one-way scrambled form (an HMAC) of your IP address, used only to limit how often one visitor can run a search. Your address itself is not stored.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items:

  • Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga), set through Google Tag Manager and our Google Analytics tags, to measure how the sites are used.
  • Google Ads click-ID cookies (such as _gcl_au and other _gcl_ cookies), which tags loaded by Google Tag Manager may set when you arrive from one of our ads, so we can tell which ads lead to requests.
  • Microsoft Clarity cookies (_clck and _clsk), which tie together the pages of one visit for Clarity's recordings.
  • sierra_saved_plans, a cookie that remembers the floor plans you save, so your list is there when you come back.
  • sierra_study_draft, a short-lived cookie that keeps a study set request you have started.
  • sierra_rfq_draft, a cookie that lasts ten minutes and puts back what you typed in a contact form if it could not be sent.
  • sl_county, a cookie on our landowner resources site that remembers the county page you last read, for one year, so the home page can offer it again.
  • realtor_session and realtor_pending, cookies on the realtor portal that keep you signed in and hold a sign-in that is waiting for its code.
  • sierra_optout, a cookie that remembers, for one year, that you turned off our analytics and advertising tags at Your privacy choices.
  • sierra:newsletter, an entry in your browser's local storage that remembers you closed the newsletter window, so it does not appear again.
  • Your starred resources on our landowner resources site, and whether you collapsed the site menu, kept in your browser's local storage.
  • The shade structure configurator keeps the design you are working on in your browser's session storage, so a reload does not lose it; it is gone when you close the tab.
  • The LeadConnector chat window may store its own identifiers in your browser so a conversation can continue.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The sites still work without them, although saved plans and drafts will not be remembered. Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics. To turn off Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads tags and Microsoft Clarity on all of our sites, use Your privacy choices or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser.

Your privacy choices and Global Privacy Control

Every page of our sites links Your privacy choices in its footer. There you can turn off the analytics and advertising tags we use: Google Tag Manager and the Google Analytics and Google Ads tags it can load, the Google Analytics tags on our gallery, blog and landowner resources sites, and Microsoft Clarity. We remember your choice in the sierra_optout cookie for one year, for all of our sites. If you clear your cookies or use another browser or device, make the choice again there.

We honor Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as the same choice and load none of these tags. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which set no cookies, and the chat window stay on either way.

How we use your information

  • To answer your questions, prepare quotes, and deliver the study sets, design packages and reports you ask for.
  • To schedule and hold the consultations you book.
  • To send the newsletter you signed up for, and follow-up about a request you made. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To send text messages about your inquiry or order when you have given us your mobile number (see the SMS section of our Terms).
  • To understand which pages are useful and improve the sites, our products and our marketing.
  • To keep the sites secure, prevent spam and abuse, and comply with the law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who handle it on our behalf, under their own security and confidentiality obligations:

  • GoHighLevel (LeadConnector): our customer records, chat window, booking calendar, email and text messaging.
  • Google: Tag Manager, Analytics, Ads tags that Tag Manager may load, and Maps for delivery estimates and for the map embeds on our home, about, contact and store pages.
  • Microsoft: Clarity, for session recordings and heatmaps.
  • Vercel: hosting, privacy-friendly page analytics (Web Analytics) and page speed measurement (Speed Insights).
  • Supabase: the database behind our sites and tools.
  • Resend: delivery of emails such as reports and packages.
  • ShapeDiver: the interactive 3D model in the shade structure configurator.
  • Shopify: our floor plan store and its checkout.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except service providers that help us deliver the messages.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to it.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry and customer records for as long as we are working with you and for a reasonable time after, so we can answer later questions, honour warranties and keep the business records the law requires. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept for the period our analytics settings allow. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove what identifies you.

Security

Our sites are served over encrypted connections, and the systems that hold your information are access controlled. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to protect what you give us.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from marketing email at any time with the link in any message.
  • Reply STOP to any text message to stop texts, or HELP for help.
  • Block or clear cookies in your browser, or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
  • Turn off our analytics and advertising tags at Your privacy choices, linked in every footer, or with Global Privacy Control, which we honor.
  • Ask us to see, correct or delete your information by writing to info@sierralogandtimber.com.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA and CPRA)

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you rights over your personal information. We extend the same rights to every visitor, wherever you live.

Categories of personal information we have collected in the past 12 months:

  • Identifiers, such as your name, email address, phone number and IP address.
  • Customer records, such as your contact details and the details of your project.
  • Commercial information, such as the plans, packages and products you asked about or bought.
  • Internet activity, such as the pages you viewed and how you reached them.
  • Approximate geolocation, derived from your IP address, and the building location or ZIP code you give us.

We do not collect sensitive personal information as the law defines it, such as government ID numbers, financial account logins or precise geolocation.

Sources: you, when you fill in a form, chat, book or email; your browser and device, through the cookies and analytics described above; and our service providers, which process information on our behalf.

Purposes: the uses listed under "How we use your information". We disclose these categories for business purposes only to the service providers listed under "Who we share it with".

No sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Some tags that Google Tag Manager loads, such as Google Ads tags, may count as sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. You can opt out of that sharing at Your privacy choices, linked in every footer, and we honor that opt-out and treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as the same opt-out. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16.

Your rights:

  • The right to know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it and who we disclosed it to, and to receive a copy.
  • The right to delete the personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions the law allows, such as records we must keep.
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell it; to opt out of sharing, use Your privacy choices, turn on Global Privacy Control, or tell us.
  • The right not to be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.

How to make a request: email info@sierralogandtimber.com or call (530) 899-0680, and tell us which right you are using. We will confirm we received it within 10 business days and answer within 45 days, or tell you if we need more time, as the law allows. To protect you, we verify a request by matching the details you give us to the information we hold, usually your email address or phone number. You may use an authorised agent, who will need your signed permission, and we may still ask you to confirm your identity with us directly.

California's "Shine the Light" law lets California residents ask whether we disclosed personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing. We do not, and you can ask us at the same address.

Children

Our sites are for adults planning homes and buildings and are not directed to anyone under 18, the age our Terms require. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, write to info@sierralogandtimber.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our sites and the law change. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will say so on the sites.
